Welcome to North Shore Endodontics

The first specialist endodontic clinic on Sydney’s North Shore was established by Dr. Syd Bader in 1993. He was joined in 1996 by Dr. John Barbat.

In recent years, branch practices in Gosford and Dee Why have been opened to provide better access for our Central Coast and Northern Beaches patients. Our most recent addition is a branch practice in Ballina, which opened in February 2014.

With a combined commitment of nearly forty years to specialised endodontic services, the North Shore’s most experienced team is able to bring the highest levels of care using state of the art technology at our new locations.
Northern Beaches Endodontics is a specialist dental practice located in Dee Why, dedicated exclusively to endodontic care.

The team at Northern Beaches Endodontics make it their priority to provide the highest standard of professional care in a friendly and comfortable environment.

What is an Endodontist?

In addition to a dental degree, specialist Endodontists are required to undertake at least an additional three years of post-graduate study, which enables the study and practice of advanced techniques in the diagnosis and provision of endodontic therapy. For this reason, many dentists choose to refer their patients to Endodontists.

We are specialists in saving teeth

An endodontist is a specialist dentist with a minimum of three years of post-graduate University training in treating the diseased or damaged pulp of teeth.

They are registered as a specialist with the Dental Board of Australia, they are not general dentists with an interest in root canal treatment. To check your endodontist is registered, click here.

Endodontists limit their practice to root canal treatment and other procedures involving the pulp, diagnosing and relieving orofacial pain, treating traumatic injuries to teeth and oral facial infections. They are also specialists in apical microsurgery.

While some dentists choose to perform routine root canals in their practice, it’s very common and appropriate for dentists to refer their patients to a specialist in the field. This ensures the patients receive expert treatment and the best possible outcome. This is particularly so for back teeth which all tend to be difficult.

Our specialists at North Shore Endodontics are members of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists (ANZAE), the Australian Society of Endodontology (ASE) and the Australian Dental Association (ADA).
